Angela "ANG" Ainalani Makaiwi Pelekai Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

…Riding The Perfect Wave To Eternal Paradise… Angela “ANG” Ainalani Makaiwi Pelekai was born on August 25, 1964 in Honolulu, HI. She was raised in Kailua on the windward side of Oahu. Ang was a fish out of water. She went far and beyond in swimming. Not only did she swim for Aulea Swim Club, she held swimming records in High school and was second in the state in the backstroke. Ang was our Hawaiian Olympian. Ang had so many hidden talents. She was so proud to be on that football field with her dad. She was the first wahine Official for OIA football. Memories of her throwing her first flag at an illegal procedure, provoking angry reactions from the players were unforgettable because ANG was not one to back down, she had grit. She was the biggest diehard fan for the Pittsburgh Steelers! She was loyal to her black and yellow, win or lose, till the very end. Ang attended Eastern Oregon College after high school and received 2 Master’s Degrees. She was a force to be reckoned with when she had her mind set on something. Helping troubled youth was something she was really passionate about. She spearheaded several non profit programs providing outreach to the keiki of Hawaii. Ang took her experience and shared her knowledge throughout the nation. She retired In Virginia as a Youth Corrections Counselor with the Sheriff’s Department. Ang transitioned on April, 21, 2022 in Yelm, Washington. One of her many wishes was to come back home and live on Molokai. We will be honoring her celebration of life in Ho’olehua Homestead, Molokai on Friday, July 22, 2022. Visitation will be at Auntie Ochie’s Hale from 10-11a. Celebration to Follow. Survived by Father Edward (Kona) Pelekai Siblings: Tony (Michelle) Pelekai, Douglas (Robin) Pelekai, Lorraine Pelekai, Tishalynn (Jarome) Reed, Kehaulani Pelekai, Kuamu (Jessica) Pelekai. 12 nieces and nephews, 1 Great grand niece. Proceeded in death by Mother Judith Gwyther.
