Cynthia Edwards Salmon
January 17, 2022
Cynthia Edwards Salmon went to Heaven on January 17th, 2022. She lived a wonderfully full life, growing up in Chicago with her parents, Charlotte "Lottie" and John Edwards, beginning in 1941, and moving to Honolulu in 1977, after falling in love with Hawaii, where she passed away peacefully. Cindy had a wonderful twenty-four-year marriage to her husband, Rick Salmon, until he suddenly passed away in 1993 at the age of fifty-four, and she had missed him ever since. Cynthia was a delightful mother and had two sons, Rick and Mark, who she adored. She also had a close and loving relationship with her brother, Tom Edwards. Cynthia loved her extensive and chatty Polish family in Chicago, and she married into an Irish family from Chicago that was also a true blessing. Cindy was a character who liked to rock the boat when the seas were calm by demolishing an entire garage without notice or lighting the dinner table on fire with, "I think now would be a good time to discuss the birds and the bees. Honey, why don't you start." Often driving her husband and sons crazy with a gleam in her eye. Then she couldn't wait to tell it all to her best friend in Hawaii, Nancy Bathen. Cindy was also highly creative, especially in fashion and interior design, and she developed a great sense of taste early on. If you met Cynthia, you would feel like good friends in a minute. Cynthia had a deep Catholic faith and continually prayed to God, Jesus, The Blessed Mother, and many saints, including Saint Marianne, Saint Francis, Saint Jude, and Saint Damian. Cindy had a saint for every issue. Her son Rick used to joke that the saints would be overly familiar with her when she went to Heaven. But at the same time, he marveled when a lot of what she prayed for would come true.
