DAVID BERNARD BALASBAS 9/17/57-6/27/20 David Bernard Balasbas ,62 years of age, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and passed away on June 27, 2020. He is survived by life partner, Jennifer Mari Neuburger, of Honolulu, Hawaii. David has one son, Christopher Lawrence Balasbas. David is Predeceased by his father, Edward P. Balasbas, 1922-1986. David is also Predeceased by mother-in-law, Mary Teresa Dejohn Neuburger, 1936-2019. David is survived by Mother, Carmen (Fabrao) Balasbas of Mililani, HI; brothers: Thomas Balasbas of Mililani, HI; Michael Balasbas of Mililani, HI; Paul (& Melanie) Balasbas of Gardenia, California; Anthony (& Sherrie) Balasbas of Mililani, HI and Kevin (& Tami) Balasbas of Gardenia, California, as well as many Aunties, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends, some in Hawaii, around the islands and on the mainland. David enjoyed living on the North Shore of Oahu most of his life and on the outskirts of Chicago, Illinois, as well. Following the stay in Illinois, David and Jennifer recently relocated back to Hawaii to be closer to David’s family. David enjoyed surfing, fishing (including catching), camping, BBQ’s, watching TV, and going to concerts & shows. David loved listening to (and singing) Hawaiian music, keeping up with news & politics, and cruising at the beach. He loved going on road trips and detouring for local eateries, tourist attractions, the Amish, but especially restaurants as seen on Diners, Drive-inns and Dives! David was known for his elaborate, detailed story-telling and infectious laugh. David’s memories from “back in the day…” made him a great historian. David never spoke an ill word towards anyone. He truly showed the Aloha spirit to anyone he came to have known. David enjoyed many things in his life but what David enjoyed the most was being around family, attending get-togethers and gatherings of family & friends. He was loved by everyone. He will be greatly missed by all. A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held on a later date which will be supplied in future. It has been postponed due to current government restrictions re pandemic.
