EDMUND “ EDDIE “ AMARAL Sr, was born in Keanae, Maui in 1948. He was the third child born to John K Amaral and Virginia Kepani Amaral. Eddie was a graduate of McKinley High School. He spent his youth surfing on the south shore of O’ahu at his home break Kewalo Basin. Eddie married the beautiful Arleen Yvette “Aya” Wassman his high school sweetheart. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 68. Together they raised two children, Edmund Amaral Jr and Darin Amaral. He was employed as a pressman at The Honolulu Newspaper company for 30 years and enjoyed retirement to follow. Eddie and Arleen lived at Bingham Apartments before settling in their home in Waimanālo, Hawaiian Homestead in 1992. Upon Aya’s passing Eddie planted a coconut tree in remembrance of her. This tree is located on the beach at Waimanālo close to Kaiona Boat ramp where her ashes were spread - They spent most of their time at this place together. They enjoyed going holoholo ( leisure car rides ) walks on the beach with their dogs, and special moments with their grandchildren. They enjoyed their life together, in full. Eddie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending his days out at sea. Favorite places to fish were all along the windward side of O’ahu - docking the boat at Kane’ohe Boat ramp and trolling down to Makapu’u. He was an annual participant of the Waimanālo Boat Ramp Papio tournament. Eddie enjoyed time with his dear friends and is well known for his Aloha spirit, always bringing light and positive energy to those around him even those he had just met. During the last few years of life, he looked forward to the summer time, supplying Big Island Lychee to the Waimanālo Community. You could always find him under the Kamani Tree during the months of May - July. Eddie is survived by his two sons Eddie Amaral Jr ( Melba ) and Darrin Paul Amaral ( Rochelle ) Sisters Barbara and Lynn & brother Robert Amaral. Three grandchildren Ka’imi’ola, Emma, and Kaiko’o. Nieces and Nephews. We love you with all our hearts and will miss your life and your ALOHA spirit! ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The Amaral family sincerely appreciate all of the support and love shown during this time.
