God blessed Frankie with strength and good health despite his disability. In 1989, he was permanently injured resulting from Baby Shaken Syndrome from a licensed babysitter. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was unable to walk, talk, see or tend to himself. Immediately, Frankie was admitted to the San Diego’s Children Hospital ICU unit for three weeks fighting for his life. The ICU physician informed Frankie’s parents that from his injury it will take a miracle that Frankie will come out of ICU and if he does, that he lives up to age three. His parents thanked the ICU physician of God’s gift for his expertise, but they believed that God is solely the hope for Frankie’s future. In 1992, Frankie’s family moved to Hawaii and he was a transfer to the Shriner’s Children Hospital. As a patient for over 18 years, Frankie’s health improved with the special medical team and adaptable equipment. In 1999, Frankie had replacement surgery to his right hip. Throughout his years, Frankie’s parents and brothers kept his care by annual & monthly visits to medical care facilities. His parents & family were supportive 24/7 in helping Frankie ease his suffering from ongoing seizures. As his health needs fluctuated in care, Frankie continued to be lively person. He graduated from Campbell High School in 2006 receiving a ‘Certificate of Completion’. He also was a participant the past ten years at the SECOH and Hawaii Health Services Adult Day Programs. In March 2020, Frankie’s health changed with inability to sit up, eat or drink. After numerous urgent care and ER visits, his neurologist informed his parents Frankie’s brain health is decreasing rapidly associated to dementia. A youthful 31 was equivalent to an 80-year-old. Despite the saddened news, Frankie’s parents remained hopeful and relied on God’s intervention. Frankie was the love of his family and his interaction brought joy and teachings of patience with unconditional love. His best friend and companion was his mother. Thank you, God, for the wonderful blessings upon Frankie’s life, his parents and family. God’s unwavering LOVE and GRACE allowed Frankie to be with his parents. His extended relatives’ numerous visits and prayers that are forever in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
