Harold Leslie De Lima

August 21, 1927 - December 26, 2021

Harold L. DeLima August 21, 1927 – December 26, 2021 Harold DeLima, age 94 of Kailua, Oahu went to be with his Lord on December 26, 2021. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maxine Maurice DeLima, daughter Catherine DeLima, and his grandson Trevor Waugh. Preceded also in death by his parents Antone DeLima, Anna Gomes Hevia, his siblings, brothers, Edward, Clifford, sisters, Eleanor Konno, Berdine Tindle. He is survived by 5 children, sons Thomas, Michael (Kathyann), David (Yvonne), daughters Debra (Earl) Bendschneider, Leslie DeLima, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and cherished dog Lani girl, many dear cousins, nephews and nieces. Harold was raised in Honolulu, and attended St Louis School, he lived through the Pearl Harbor attack and soon after joined the Merchant Marines, he retired from the US Air Force after 20 years, he took on the same job at Hickam AF Base as civil service for another 20 years, ending a 40 year career with the USAF. He was stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia, Ft. Bragg, N. Carolina, Johnston Island, Guam and Taiwan. Once retired he was his wife’s constant companion, whom he dearly loved. They loved their Sunday drives, and going to Waikiki on a Friday night date. The family vacationed at Bellows during the summer, so many family memories of time spent there. He was the family historian, he gathered the documents of our ancestors and how they came to Hawaii from the Madeira Island of Portugal, he loved telling us stories of his early years growing up in the island, and of his travels in the military over the years. He loved visits from his mainland family and friends. Many family gatherings were held at our homestead in Kailua, one thing we will remember is his generous heart, how he provided for his family, and he sacrificed for us all. Burial at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe, Hawaii at a later date. For further information you may contact: Son David ~ [email protected] or Daughter Deb~ [email protected]
