Isaac Makana Kekuewa Sr.

Isaac Makana Kekuewa (aka; Ike), at age 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday August 12, 2018. He was born in Lahaina, Maui on January 10, 1927, to parents Kealoha and Elsie Kekuewa. He attended Kamehameha School and graduated from Lahainaluna High. He served 2 years in the Army. Then moved to Oahu where he worked at The Bus until his retirement of 45 years, serving as superintendent, where he trained all bus operators, extending his sense of integrity and responsibility, ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers of the City and County of Honolulu. Isaac was blessed and loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all who he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Violet L. Kekuewa, Children: Isaac Makanakaualoha Kekuewa Jr. (Dodie), Lisa Kalikolehua Ah Puck (Boy), Jesse Lehua Kekuewa, Scott Kaipo Kekuewa, Ku’ulei Mokihana Kekuewa; Step-Children: Carnation Damon (Keoki), Candy Luna (Edward), George I (Violet), Leroy I, Cora Bush (Patrick), Rodney I (Louise), Randy I (Gina); Siblings: Reginald Hanani Kekuewa, Mercedes Lauae Hussey, Nyla U’ilani DuPont; 33 Grandchildren and 46 Great-Grandchildren. Isaac was a devoted member of First Missionary Baptist Church, in addition to that, he served as a deacon while at Kawaiaha’o Church, along with enjoying his time as a member of Pearl City Community Church where he performed with their choir, singing praise and worship fulfilling one of his favorite past times. He enjoyed many hobbies which include beautifully landscaped gardening, singing Hawaiian and gospel music, dancing, swimming, paddling, playing volleyball, and completing his many books of crossword and word search puzzles. A few other activities which Isaac took great delight being; travelling the world and visiting many countries by way of Luxurious Cruise Lines, having a good time in Las Vegas playing his treasured Blazing 7’s, monthly luncheons with the Lahainaluna Class of ’45, and the monthly card games of Paiute where food, family, and friends were plenty. Isaac will always be remembered as a man who loved his family and did all that he could to lend a helping hand in any way possible, he was an amazing listener, a man of few words, but when spoken were so often faith-filled words of encouragement. Thank you, Ike, for being an upright and steadfast man of God, a loving Husband, Father, Papa, and Tutukane. Throughout your lifetime, you made sure to take care good care of your family and friends. We know you are in heaven joyfully singing praises. Until we see you again in heaven, we keep you forever in our hearts.
