Kathleen Kuulani Pui Ling Wong Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kathleen ‘Katy’ Wong was born on Feb. 13, 1965 and baptized shortly thereafter at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Honolulu. She attended elementary school at Sacred Hearts Convent, followed by high school at Mid Pacific Institute. On August 19, 1988, she welcomed a daughter, our Lauren, into the family. A single mom, she later became a Real Estate Appraiser, working staggered hours in order to be available for Lauren’s activities during the day. Katy encouraged her daughter, giving her the means and freedom to gain new skills, supporting her in finding her passion. From tennis to volleyball to musical theater to after-school-tutor, Katy worked to make it happen. As an adult, Lauren realized how tough that must have been, but Katy made it all look effortless; attending every game, every performance- and making it fun for everyone. Lauren always worked to make her mom proud. Katy was passionate about Disney, taking a shine to all things magical. She loved holidays, especially Halloween, however each year she made elaborate Easter baskets for the children. (It’s a little known fact that one of her nieces continued to receive an Easter basket every year. She's now a wife and mother, but that was their custom and it was Katy's pleasure to continue it.) Katy was a generous friend, a good daughter, a good sister, a good auntie, and a very, very good mother. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
