Valerie Yvonne Kapahua

May 11, 1952 - February 17, 2022

Valerie Y. Kapahua, 69, of Honolulu, Hawai’i passed away on February 17, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Fred Kapahua. Their daughters, Kainoa Kapahua, Kanani Kapahua, & Dana Ann Tai. Grandchildren, Kyler Kepa-Kapahua, Kyree Kapahua-Engoring, & Kya Rose Kapahua-Engoring. Brother Milton Tai, and many nieces & nephews. Valerie was born on May 11, 1952 to parents Charles James & Barbara (Yuen) Tai (Deceased). And preceded in death by brothers, David Yuen, Dennis Tai, & Charles Tai. Growing up in Kalihi alongside 4 brothers, Val spent many of her days at Palama Settlement. She loved shooting pool & playing volleyball. But was great at throwing darts. Many times, placing in dart tournaments. After meeting & marrying Fred Kapahua, they moved to Liliha (aka “pink apartments”) in 1977. There, they started and raised their own family. Services for Valerie will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Oahu Cemetery, from 1pm – 5pm.
