William "Bill" W. Reisner

February 27, 1951 - March 23, 2022

passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer at his home in Hawai‘i Kai, with his family by his side. Born into an U.S. Air Force family, Bill lived in Europe and various states before the family was transferred to Hawai‘i in the mid-60’s. Bill attended Punahou School and graduated with the Class of 1969. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and received his Master’s degree in Literature and Writing from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Bill taught English and Literature at UH Kapi‘olani Community College. Teaching was a perfect fit for Bill, he loved to tell stories and enjoyed a captive audience. He loved his students and they loved him. Bill was passionate about Major League Baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs. He appreciated music of all kinds, going to concerts and keeping up with new artists. After retirement he enjoyed photography and would always be seen with a camera around his neck, snapping photos of his beloved dogs, Pepper and Mele. He had a quick mind, a great sense of humor and seemed to know something about everything. Bill is survived by his wife, Vicki Reisner; brothers, Joseph Reisner (Patrice) and Thomas Shea (Nancy); brother-in-law, Ramsay H. “Sandy” Sandelin Jr.; nieces, Julianna Englund and Courtney Granberry; nephews, Brian Englund, Jack Reisner and Patrick Shea. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Sue Walrath. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, May 17, 2022, 9:30 a.m. at the Outrigger Canoe Club.
